We are very excited to give this particular piece of gear a try. It looks great and based on our discussions with Jeason, should do its job perfectly. Nothing is more gratifying than handling a custom made tool like this one. We will check back in once we get to look at it firsthand. Thanks again to all the folks over at Cajun Custom Rods!!!

Your line rating is a recommendation by the rod manufacturer as the "maximum line rating" for the fishing rod as a whole (guides, rod, etc. are taken into account in this rating). In your case, the manufacturer recommends 12 pound line, so that's what I'd use for the spinner baits ... you can always go smaller, but you see what happens using heavier lures. The issue is the reel ... it's rated up to a maximum of 8 pound line. So what to do? use the 12 pound line and sacrifice the additional line you'd gain on the spool (I don't foresee a bass hauling more than 20-30 yards of line - worst case ... so you'll be OK there). Though "off-the-shelf" and "combo rod set-ups" rods have their place in the sport fishing industry, I would highly encourge you to design a custom rod using our Individual Fitting Process (IFP). Just click on our Build Your Rod icon and then the "1. Fit 2. Design 3. Fish" icon. We'll have you in a perfectly fit and tuned rod for minimal price in no time (takes my 6 year old about 5 minutes to design a custom rod fit perfectly for him). I've been fishing for years and when it comes to being comfortable, there is nothing on the market ("off-the-shelf" or otherwise) that compares to a handcrafted and precision-tuned custom fishing rod. Also, take a look at the newest picks in our gallery ... especially the first 6 of the spinning rod we just shipped. A great "all-around" spinning rod ... at an incredibly affordable price. That spinning rod is rated for 8-14 pounds ... the difference is the rod is custom tuned and a perfect fit ... so it feels like your casting a spinning rod with a line weight of 6-8 pounds - talk about being comfortable. Let me know if you have other questions and we'll do our best to help. - Jaesen Yerger
